Poem of the month winner is Laura (12)

Billy

I love my horse
and his name is Billy.
He is very handsome
and he has a crush on this filly.
He loves his dressage
but hates to jump
he gets very stubborn
then he'll get in a grump.
Then after were done
I'll hope for the best
he'll either be good
or he'll be a pest.
Jumping, dressage
we've done them all
I might fall off
and look like a fool.
Then I'll go home
and have thew best dream ever,
I would never change
never ever.

Out for a ride

After we had put on the tack.

my friends and I decided to go on a hack,

what a lovely day for going out,

this is what riding is all about.

We walked down the lane, plodding along,

it was so perfect, nothing was wrong.

We chatted and talked all the way,

watching the nearby lambs play.

The sun shone down and was warm on our backs,

it was lovely on that hack.

The end of the ride was all too soon,

but we promised each other we'd go another afternoon.

The Stallion

The stallion was strutting around the herd

putting on rather a show.

His jet black mane blowing in the breeze

and his ears flicking back and forth.

Prancing about was just his style,

letting the herd know that he was in charge.

He galloped and he bucked, he pawed the ground,

what a magnificient animal to behold.

There was a fire in his eyes,

his coat glistened in the evening sunshine.

He was the leader,

the captain, the boss, the one.

Cheeky Pony

Oh why wouldn't this pony come in from the field?

I wanted to scream, shout, yell but I kept my lips sealed.

He stood his ground and planted his feet

but he certainly wasn't getting a treat.

I pulled and I yanked but my pony stood still,

I will get him in, I will, I will.

We had been there for 1/2 an hour

and my mood was turning pretty sour,

maybe he will give in soon,

if he does I will be over the moon.

"Come on, come on," I wanted to say

"Come in now and you'll get your hay",

maybe it was luck but my pony seemed to understand

and he started walking along, just as I had planned.
